Home Depot chairman, CEO, and president to speak at college commencement | MSU Broad College of Business

Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business alumnus Craig Menear, chairman, CEO, and president of The Home Depot, will address the college’s class of 2015 at Saturday’s Broad College baccalaureate degree ceremony.

Palmer Endowed Professor in Accounting, said. “He is an example of Broad College Spartans in the C-suite, personifying the Spartan spirit in his dedication to his speech writer online work and with his generous support.”

Menear has more than three decades of experience in the retail and hardware home improvement industry, more than half of which has been with The Home Depot.

He was named chairman and CEO of The Home Depot in January 2015, and prior to that he served as president of U.S. retail for the company. Since joining the company in 1997, he has held several positions of increasing responsibility, including executive vice president of merchandising and senior vice president of merchandising for hardlines.

During his tenure with The Home Depot, Menear revamped merchandising operations and strategy and executed one of the most dramatic supply chain transformations in retail history. He also has been focused on uniting the store and online operations to create a seamless interconnected retail experience.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree from the Broad College in 1979.
